The clients loved their treehouse but were ready to build their dream home. Fortunately, they wanted to preserve their existing home and integrate it into the new design.
The initial design phase explored dynamic angles to complement the shape of the existing pool, which became a focal point for the new build. The home's layout evolved with careful consideration of the pool's position and the optimal orientation of interior spaces.
To seamlessly merge old and new, the existing structure was split, with a new central element bridging the two buildings.
A northwestern wing was introduced to accommodate two additional bedrooms, a bathroom, and a laundry. Meanwhile, the garage remains connected to the house but is separated by a central atrium, creating a light-filled heart of the home.
Sustainability was a priority for both the clients and our team. The design incorporated repurposed materials the clients had collected over the years, as well as cherished industrial design elements from a recently deceased family member, ensuring a deeply personal connection to the home.
Every detail was carefully considered to reflect the clients’ lifestyle, aesthetic, and personal story. This project was a dream to work on, as the clients’ vision aligned perfectly with my own values in design and construction. The result is a home that we are all incredibly proud of.
